Workshop at Loughborough University

Thank you to everyone who attended today’s workshop on domestic abuse in LGBTQIA+ relationships, delivered in association with Loughborough University’s Knowledge Exchange Scheme. Hosting this right at the end of LGBTQIA+ History Month felt especially meaningful.

A huge thank you to Laura Valadez and Kirsty McGregor for helping me host the event and another huge thank you to our speakers: Gavin May, for sharing such fantastic work and insights around the impact of gender role beliefs on police decision making in LGBTQ+ Intimate Partner Violence, and Rony Roy, MSc, MIET, APM Associate, for highlighting why intersectionality matters so much to the discussion on this topic. You both added so much nuance to this discussion.

It was also really special for me to host this right at the end of my studies. Thank you as well to Drew Dalton and ReportOUT for letting us host The Flag in the Map exhibition, it helped so much to uplift the room and bring us back to Queer joy after discussing such a tough topic.

If anybody would like to get a glimpse into my presentation, I shared brochures at the event with information. That brochure (along with posters and other free resources) is free to download from Pride Point’s website (link in the comments).
