A gentle, informative workshop exploring what domestic abuse and coercive control can look like in LGBTQIA+ relationships.
Domestic abuse does not always look like physical violence, and it can happen in all types of relationships. For LGBTQIA+ people, abuse can involve unique dynamics linked to identity, community and safety.
This workshop is designed for LGBTQIA+ community members, friends and allies who want to better understand what domestic abuse and coercive control can look like, and how to recognise early warning signs.
The session will focus on awareness and understanding, not pressure to disclose. You do not need any prior knowledge.
This session will cover:
What domestic abuse and coercive control are
How abuse can show up in LGBTQIA+ relationships
Common warning signs and patterns of control
Why it can be hard to recognise or talk about abuse
This workshop is for:
LGBTQIA+ people
Friends, partners and chosen family
Anyone who wants to better support their community
This is an educational session. No personal sharing is required.
